Now that you know the difference between Ellie Young nail glue and sticky tabs it's important to keep in mind that the prep is key to lasting manicures. If you skip a step, chances are your natural nails will retain moisture and your press-on mani will pop-off faster than planned.

Step 1: CLEANSE YOUR NATURAL NAILS

When you visit the salon, your nail tech will start with thorough prep and that is what you should do too when applying press on nails.

First, push back cuticles, remove excess skin from your nail beds, buff your nail surface gently and wipe with the alcohol pad to ensure there is no moisture, oil or dirt left on your hands. This will help your press-on nails last longer.

Ellie Young press-on nail kit includes all the prep kit, nail file, cuticle pusher, and both glue and adhesive tabs. so you are all set for an easy application. Just in case you need more detail, please check the tutorials following this instruction.

Step 2: SELECT THE CORRECT NAIL SIZE

There are 24 nails in your Ellie Young nails kit in 10 different sizes. We included even half sizes just to make sure you can find the perfect match for your natural nail. Every fake nail has its size labeled on the back of tip, where number zero stands for the largest size for your thumb. Number nine is the smallest for your pinky finger. If you are indecisive about the exact nail size - always choose the smaller size. It's less likely that air bubble will appear and your nails will stay on for longer time. If necessary, you can easily reshape your press-on nails to fit perfectly your natural nail by buffing them on the sides.

Step 3: APPLICATION

- sticky tabs or nail glue? If you want to wear the fake nails only for your next even or you like to switch up the manicure to match your outfit almost every day - you want to use sticky tabs that come in the set. There are 24 stickers in every Ellie Young kit that should be sufficient for two applications. These Sticky tabs mostly last you up to 5 days however they can even last up to 1 week, depending on your lifestyle. You can learn all about how to apply them following the step by step tutorial here. Don't forget, you can reuse the nails up to 5 times with adhesive tabs and the additional tabs you can purchase here.

If you want your nails to truly last like your salon mani you want to try applying them with the liquid nail glue. When applied properly - watch the tutorial on TIKTOK- it can last in average 14 days however some of the Ellie Young girls wore our press on's for a full month. The secret to lasting mani beside proper prep is generous glue usage. You want to cover your nail surface with glue like when applying nail polish - and apply a dot of the glue on the back of the nail. Press-down nails carefully, to avoid gluing together your fingers - remove the excess glue with the cuticle stick and press down the nail firmly to ensure there are no air-pockets left between the fake and your natural nail.
